Frequently Asked Questions
What is blockboard?
Blockboard is an engineered panel with a core of softwood battens sandwiched between hardwood veneers. It is light, strong and resists bending — ideal for long panels, doors and shutters.
What is blockboard used for?
Doors, shutters, tables, long shelves, wardrobes and partitions — anywhere a long, straight, lightweight panel is needed.
Blockboard vs plywood — what is the difference?
Blockboard uses a batten core, making it lighter and better against sagging over long spans; plywood uses cross-bonded veneers for all-round strength and screw-hold. Use blockboard for long panels, plywood for general furniture.
Is Navkar blockboard waterproof?
Our BWR-grade blockboard (boiling water resistant) is made with phenolic resin for humid areas; standard blockboard is moisture-resistant for dry interiors.
What sizes does blockboard come in?
Common thicknesses are 16–25 mm in 8 x 4 ft sheets, Gurjan-faced and termite/borer treated. Contact us for sizes and pricing.
